For intercontinental crossings I take a plane, but beyond that, unless absolutely necessary, I never use motorized vehicles. Over the past 15 years, I have only had to place my bike on another vehicle 7 times due to crossing restrictions. So far, I have cycled 142,000 km / 88,200 miles across 71 countries.

My world tour is expected to cover 100 countries and 7 continents. By the time I complete it, I estimate that I will have cycled nearly 200,000 kilometers / 125,200 miles

I don’t ride my bicycle nonstop every single day. In the countries I visit, I take time to explore historical and cultural sites, sometimes spending a week, ten days, or even two months in a city. I camp in places I love, enjoy the beauty of nature, and spend time reading books. In other words, I’m in no rush!

Yes, I do have sponsors who support me, but none of them dictate how I should travel. There are no advertising obligations, no mandatory posts I have to share. This is simply a dream and they choose to be part of that dream, nothing more.

On my homepage, you can see how many days I’ve been on the road, which countries I have crossed, and the dates of each passage.

How to sotry began

Stage 1 – North Asia Tour (I started 10 March 2010 – I finished April 2011)

Türkiye, Georgia, Azerbican, Türkmenistan, Uzbkistan, Tacikistani, A small part of Afganistan, Kırgızistan, China, Mongolia, South Korea, Japan.

After completing this tour, I decided to continue exploring the rest of the world by bicycle. However, since I had spent the money I had saved during my first tour, I realized it would be difficult to both work and keep moving at the same time. So, I decided to develop a source of passive income while traveling. I returned to Turkey and spent about a year working on this plan and I succeeded. Gurkan how come will you pass through this desert? It is possible to find paved road stretching from the west to east across the desert. Some may say: “Hey, paved? This looks easy.” This region has one of the harshest climates in the world. This driest place on earth is hot, above 50 degrees centigrade during day time. Compared to the mountain passes in South America, it can be considered a mid-level pass. However, unlike many other passes, there is no official sign marking its highest point. The reason for this is that the actual summit is situated on a sharp curve, making it unsafe to place a sign there.

As a result, most people rely on the elevation of the Alpine Visitor Center Trail Ridge Store, located a few kilometers below the actual highest point, which stands at 3,595 meters. Because of this, many mistakenly assume that this is the highest pass in the U.S. Additionally, some Americans consider Mount Evans as the highest vehicle-accessible pass. However, Mount Evans is actually a dead-end summit, meaning you reach the top and have to turn back rather than crossing over to another side, which technically disqualifies it as a true pass.

For this reason, Trail Ridge Pass is officially referred to as the highest continuous vehicle pass in the U.S.

GREAT BASIN DESERT (NOVEMBER 2024)

The Great Basin Desert is the largest desert in North America.
